Glow Pros!

Tis the season to be extra sparkly and shiny, and we’re not just talking tinsel on your tree; the “glow”, both inner and outer, is all the rage these days. Long gone are the desires for a deep, dark tan, or conversely, we’ve also said “goodbye” to days of chasing down the Vampire look as a hallmark of beauty. Today, both men and women alike, seek out an internal and external “glow” brought about from healthy living which includes nutritious foods, an active lifestyle, and mental + emotional balance.
Experts say the best way to achieve this “glow” is to start from the inside and work outwards; we’re talking about what you’re putting into your body. Eating a diet full of color {think VEGETABLES!! and fruits} will provide your insides with the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients essential to getting your skin hydrated and GLOWING! Avocados, blueberries, Salmon, Lemon, and Turmeric are all foods recommended to get your skin glowing; they are all loaded with antioxidants which fight off inflammation in your body/skin and gives you a non-puffy, tight, glowy look!
Drinking enough water will also flood your cells and keep the body hydrated and dewy {aka look like it’s lit from within.} Without enough water, skin looks sallow, dry and haggard.
Believe it or not but your thoughts and the energy of the people you surround yourself with also have effects on your “glow”. Studies show that happy thoughts and spending time with those that lift you up, affect how you look; people tend to rate more attractive when they are in a more positive frame of mind {can someone say “book me a bike in the Saddle Room?“}
And if you’re not cutting it with the intrinsic “glow” provider you can always go with a fake-it-until-you-make-it route; these days both skincare and makeup offer up the best in healthy phosphorescence.
As always our staff was loaded with the best advice and tips on how to glow, both internally and externally; here is what they had to say:

How do I glow?  Let me count the ways!
1.  I dry brush almost every day.  This keeps my skin vibrant. 
2.  Katie gave me Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer Tint and it always gives me a glowy yet protected face. Thanks, Katie! 
3.  If I’m down, I think about what of my favorite quotes from Roald Dahl, “If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”  –Cassie 

My favorites for glowing skin:

1. Peter Thomas Roth firmx peeling gel – kinda gross but so so cool. just trust me. 

2. Summer Fridays jet lag mask – I love that this is an invisible mask that you don’t have to rinse off. I put it on before bed or wear it under makeup.

3. Lush feeling younger highlighter – I this wear every day {as you can see the labels almost completely worn off} on my cheekbones and cupid’s bow. It’s subtle and perfect. 

4. And lastly, water water water. my skin always looks and feels extra glowy, post extra hydration.Amanda G.


When Anaheim Hills Instructor of the Month, Samantha, walked into our GritCycle headquarters this week to take part in our roundtable podcast, we all couldn’t stop complimenting her on her glowy skin and angelic air about her…..she confessed it was all her highlighter:
