GritCycle’s Greatest Hits of 2017

As we wind down 2017 it’s natural to reflect back on our year in the Saddle Room.

Our memories run the gamut from sentimental, hilarious, to life-changing. We’ve laughed on our bikes, cried into our towels, and cheered each other on to newer, improved versions of ourselves—-healthier, happier, kinder, and more peaceful versions of ourselves.

One powerful constant in these recollections is the music providing the backdrop to these unforgettable moments. With just one song an entire class can change our direction; sometimes that’s when the magic happens. Whether it be the best dance party of your year, your break-up hill of 2107, or the sprint that helped you turn your life around, we all had songs that brought out the best in us, moved us, and stuck with us all year long.

We asked our staff to name their top three favorite songs of 2017 for the Saddle Room; and just like our staff themselves, their answers were awesome.

Instructor and CEO, Cassie, chose “American Girls” by One OK Rock, “Dirty Sexy Money” by David Guetta, and the WHOLE Taylor Swift album–when she had to choose one T-Swift Track, she narrowed it down to “Look What You Made Me Do.”

Instructor Leigh rode the 2017 Taylor Swift train too. She loves “Don’t Blame Me” off the new album. Leigh also chose Imagine Dragon’s “Mouth of a River” and P!nk’s “For Now.

Instructor Lauren had great picks: “I love “Glorious” by Macklemore, “do re mi” by Blackbear and “Thunder {Official Remix} by Imagine Dragons and K.Flay, “Silence” by Marshmello, and “Dusk Til Dawn” by ZAYN. The list can go on.

Instructor Nicci picked some heavy beats for her favorites: “Crawl Otta Love” (feat. Annika Wells) by Illenium, “Mic Drop” {feat. Desiigner} {Steve Aoki Remix} BTS, “Bodak Yello” by Cardi B.

Instructor Alex had some great choices for her top 2017 picks: “One Foot” by Walk the Moon, “watch me” by Neffex, “Champion” by Fall Out Boy, “Him & I” by G-Easy and Halsley, “Broken People” by Logic & Rag’n’Bone Man, “Bad at Love” by Halsley, and “Born for Greatness” by Papa Roach.

Instructor Steph picked “Best Friend” by Sofi Tukker, “Swish Swish” {Valentino Khan Mix} by Katy Perry,  “Lonely Together” by Avicii and “Gimme More” by Doublez.

Matt’s three fave songs from 2017 {we promise he wrote these} were “Bend Ova“, “Truffle Butter“, and “Call Me Maybe.”

For 2017 our Dani is digging “Cheers” by Sleeping with Sirens, “No Witness by LP, “Yet Another Dig” by Bob the Drag Queen, “How Many Fucks” by Erika Jayne, and “Threats of Romance by Marilyn Manson.

Our Kaitlin is LOVING Feel Good by P- Lo & G Eazy, “No Limit “- G Eazy and “Willy Wonka” by Macklemore.

Instructor Shannon is NOT over “Over It” by Macklemore, she also digs “Friends” by Justin Bieber, and “Havana” by Camila Cabello.

We put these GREATEST HITS into a SPOTIFY playlist for you to enjoy.

As always, we like it best when we hear from you! What have been your favorite hits this year?
