GritCycle is Recognized by John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary!
The John Wayne Cancer Institue Auxillary presented GritCycle with their Public Service Award at their annual Membership Luncheon in October.
GritCycle Co-Founder, Marisa Wayne, accepted the award. During her acceptance speech, she shared the story of when she and Matt Bourne, her partner at GritCycle, were at the annual Odyssey Ball as someone was receiving the Public Service Award. Matt leaned in and said, “I want to win that!” Six years later and over $1,700,000 raised for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation during the annual Gritty Up, GritCycle brought the award home.
The Gritty Up is a two-day event hosted by GritCycle. It kicks off with a Silent Auction and Party on Friday evening. On Saturday, there is a three-hour indoor cycling class with 100 bikes. Riders can choose to participate alone or as a team. The staff, local businesses, volunteers, and the GritCycle community come together to make this event a success every year.
