Meet Your Manager: Jill


If you haven’t already met our Long Beach manager, Jill, you should book a bike now for LBC’s most fantastic fitness studio ever. Our Long Beach studio is popping and the place to be, 7 days a week, all times of the day. We owe much of this success to the fabulous leadership of Jill our Long Beach studio manager.

A mother to one, with one more on the way, Jill brings a huge history of valuable experience to GritCycle; her knowledge and expertise of the boutique studio business has been such giant part of why Long Beach runs so smoothly. Jill was kind enough to give us a little time out of her VERY busy schedule to let us get to know her better:

 What brought you to Grit Cycle?

I needed a career change that fit my new life as a new Mama! I heard Grit was opening in Long Beach and I made it my mission to be a part of their team!


How did you become the Studio Manager?

I owe it all to Instagram. I followed @longbeachexchange and they officially announced that Grit was going to open in the center. That night I emailed a random email address on GritCycle’s website and met Cassie!


Do you have a class or ride that has been your most memorable or favorite?

YES! And it was a class I wasn’t even riding in! I loved seeing the support from our riders at our Grand Opening Party.  

What is your favorite song to ride to and why?

Memphis Bleek – Like That

I wish I had a legit reason why… it just pumps me up! haha.


Give us the nitty gritty on you: where you’re from, what you do {if something else besides working at grit,} family, pets, etc…anything interesting/relevant.

I am born and raised in Long Beach! I am married to my best friend – Trevor. We have a daughter named Isla and we will be welcoming another baby girl to our family in June!!!

What motivates you/inspires you?

My Mom and Dad! They are High School sweethearts from a small town in Minnesota. They traveled across the country and made a nice life for our family in sunny California.

What do you do when you’re not getting gritty?

When I’m not at Grit I am chasing around a toddler…. ALL DAY LONG!

What’s your favorite “move” on the bike and why?

Power Jumps!

What is your favorite food?

I’m really not a “foodie”… If I had to choose? BBQ Chicken Pizza.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Forever and always – Joseph Gordon Levitt.

What song instantly gets you dancing?

Anything E-40.

Do you have a secret talent?

I can do balloon installations!

Last book you read?

100% a kids book for Isla.

What was the first concert you went to?

Alanis Morissette.

In high school what were you most likely to….?

I think I won Most Talkative? It still stands true.

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?

Reality TV… Specifically, Vanderpump Rules.

When you’ve had a long day how do you de-stress?

A HOT bath.

What is your favorite color?


What is your favorite food/drink?

A mezcal margarita paired with chips and salsa.

What three things are always in your grocery cart?

Eggs, cheese and La Croix.

What beauty products you can’t live without?

Dry Shampoo

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

A sleepwalker chased me when I was 12 and I now have a serious fear of people who sleepwalk.
