October with Instructor of the Month: Shannon

We can’t believe it, but we are almost through the month of October. We decided to spend a little time with our Monarch Beach Instructor of the Month, Shannon Roberts, who is an October connoisseur.

Give us the Nitty Gritty on you:

I’m an Orange County native. I live in Laguna Beach with my amazing boyfriend Robert {who I met at GrityCycle,} and our two lovely daughters. No pets, yet.
{We’ll save the details of love in the saddle room for the Valentines edition!}

In addition to GritCycle I teach barre and yoga. I taught classical ballet forever and ever. I gave that up last year.

Fall is my favorite Season and October is my favorite month of the year! Every year I buy all of the pumpkin food things from Trader Joe’s and all of the pumpkin smelling things from bath & body works. It’s the best month to visit Disneyland {hello Jack & Sally} and I love spooky decorations and costumes the whole month long and mostly I love Halloween, My favorite holiday!!

What brought you to the grit podium?
My longtime friend Katie Osumi was already teaching at Gritcycle and she suggested I try it out. I hated spin, but she knew I loved to dance!

What was your first experience in the saddle room?

Mind blown!! I knew after my very first class that I was going to be a Gritcycle instructor!

 What motivates you/inspires you?

Music! Every day all the time. I’m always motivated to find new music for my classes.
And other instructors inspire me, energy is contagious!

What do you do when you’re not getting Gritty?
