May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to pause, check in, and care for the parts of ourselves that don’t always get seen.
At GritCycle, we believe in the power of movement. But even more than that, we believe in showing up for ourselves and honoring what we need, whether that’s sweat, stillness, or something in between.
This month, we’re leaning into a message you’ve heard echo through our studios and now stitched into the brim of our latest hat: Ride Anyway.
What Does It Really Mean to “Ride Anyway”?
It’s not about pushing through when your body or mind says no. It’s not about ignoring rest or pretending you’re okay.
Instead, Ride Anyway is about listening deeply, choosing yourself, and remembering that movement can be a form of healing. Not a task to complete, but a gift to receive.
- It’s the gentle nudge to move your body when your thoughts feel heavy.
- It’s the reminder that showing up doesn’t have to look perfect.
- It’s the moment you realize you feel just a little better after a ride, even if nothing else changed.
Movement Is Mental Health
Exercise isn’t just about endorphins (though yes, they help). It’s about the space we create for ourselves, physically and mentally.
- It’s the instructor’s voice cutting through the noise of your day.
- It’s the rhythm that helps you breathe again.
- It’s a safe space to feel whatever you’re feeling, and let it move through you.
Some days, movement feels like freedom. Other days, it’s a fight to get to class. Both are valid. Both are part of the journey.
This Month We’re Giving Ourselves Permission
- To rest when we need to.
- To ride when we’re ready.
- To care for our mental health in every way we can.
You’ll see stories from riders who’ve shared what it means to show up, especially when it’s hard. You’ll also spot our limited-edition Ride Anyway hat in studios, created as a wearable reminder that you are worth taking care of.
So whether today looks like a personal record or a peaceful moment on the bike…Ride Anyway. We’ll meet you where you are.
