On Saturday, October 4, our Costa Mesa studio was filled with love, grit, and unity as we hosted a private ride for members of our community impacted by breast cancer.
The event was held in partnership with Training Through Treatment, a nonprofit founded by longtime GritCycle rider and survivor Kristy Griggs. Training Through Treatment empowers women living with metastatic breast cancer through the power of movement—offering access to spin, HIIT, and strength classes that help women build resilience, restore energy, and find community in the midst of their fight.
This year’s private ride felt especially meaningful, as a few members of the Training Through Treatment program joined us in person. It was a powerful reminder of exactly who our fundraiser supports, and how every dollar raised directly impacts real women in our community.
The class was led by GritCycle Co-Founder & President Lisa Mikelson alongside Kristy Griggs, who together created a space that was both emotional and empowering. The playlist was intense and inspiring, filled with songs that fueled tears, laughter, screams, and triumph. Every pedal stroke symbolized strength and hope, a reflection of the incredible women in the room.
Attendees also enjoyed special experiences and gifts that made the day even brighter. The BodySpec van was on-site providing full-body scans to help participants better understand their health and wellness, while Mother’s Market generously sponsored the event with gift baskets for survivors and gift cards for every attendee.
The room was overflowing with emotion, strength, and support—a reminder that breast cancer touches the very people in our community, on our bikes, and in our lives. It was a beautiful afternoon that reminded us all why we ride: for health, for hope, and for one another.
This month, GritCycle is proud to partner with Training Through Treatment for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to raise funds that provide access to fitness classes for women battling metastatic breast cancer. Here’s how you can join us in supporting this important cause:
- Donate directly to Training Through Treatment—all proceeds help fund movement-based programs for women in treatment.
- Attend a fundraiser ride on October 25th or October 26th. GritCycle will donate $5 from every booked bike.
- Purchase our limited-edition It Takes Grit hat where 100% of proceeds benefit Training Through Treatment. Hats are available for purchase in all studios.
Together, we’re proving that community, movement, and heart can make a difference… one ride at a time. Donate today and help give the gift of movement to women in the fight of their lives.
